While most smartphone users prioritize features like better cameras, longer battery life, or even removable batteries, Android manufacturers seem to be laser-focused on one thing: RAM. And OnePlus is taking that obsession to the next level.
According to a new report from GSMArena, the upcoming OnePlus Ace 2 Pro is set to launch with a staggering 24GB of RAM, a significant jump from the standard 16GB seen in most flagship devices. This impressive spec is accompanied by 1TB of internal storage, making it a powerhouse in terms of memory and storage capacity.
While these numbers are certainly eye-catching, it raises the question: Is all that RAM really necessary? After all, most advanced apps, including demanding video editing tools, run smoothly on devices with just 8GB of RAM. Furthermore, Android’s optimization techniques for battery life inherently limit how much background activity can be maintained, making such massive memory reserves feel somewhat excessive.
Some users have voiced their skepticism, pointing out that even if phones were equipped with 1TB of RAM, Android’s memory management would still aggressively shut down background apps to save power.
